On Monday, April 9, this year, a number of orphans and reforming drug addicts in a range of parts of Ghana will wake up to an skill akin to their wildest dreams.
As has been the case for the past six years, Citi FM will once again lead the specialty in actuating the Easter message of love, compassion and worry for the needs of one’s neighbor through their flagship generous program dubbed:
‘The Easter Orphan Project. This time round though, the fortunate recipients of Citi FM’s Easter openhandedness will be in for what promises to be by far the most memorable and strange Easter experience.
The 7th edition of the Easter Orphan Project, is certainly shaping up to be one with a distinction as Citi FM’s ever dependable organizational machine revves up and moves into fifth gear with barely a fortnight to go for the much looked-forward-to Easter activity.
Unlike any of the six preceding editions of the project, this year’s has seen a sheer swarm of celebrities from the stage and sports, not only endorsing the Easter Orphan Project but also getting actively involved.
As at the time of penning this portion, over ten celebrated artistes and a much-loved sports icon have pledged to add their bit to Citi FM’s philanthropic program.
As evidenced by their own verbal entreaties which have been playing intermittently on 97.3Citi FM, admired music artistes such as Edem, BukBak, Asem, Slim Buster, E-nyce and Fritz have not only added their voices to Citi FM’s daring effort to raise an amount of GHC 100,000 for the establishment of a skills and training centre at one of the orphanages, they have promised to also donate to the effort and to join Easter Orphan volunteers on Easter Monday (April 9) as they interact with inmates of the orphanages and the rehab centre.
It goes without saying, that their attendance will certainly add loads of color and spice to the event.
The musicians, however are not the only celebs to have bought into the Easter Orphan message, a number of actors, Television personalities and even a footballer of great standing have effervescently endorsed the Easter Orphan Project and pledged to join in the compassionate effort.
On-screen Diva, actor and now face of Range Rover Evoque, the beautiful Jocelyn Dumas is also on board and so is actress extraordinaire, Ama K. Abrebrese.
The suave, sexy crooner and popular TV host, John Germain, Black Stars ex-captain, Stephen ‘Tornado’ Appiah and Rap Doctor Okyeame Kwame are all gearing up to give beneficiaries of the Easter Orphan Project an memorable experience.
As at the time of writing this article, there is a hard indication that the latest star to join the mix is talented singer-rapper; Trigmatic. With the ever increasing invasion of artistes pledging their support for the Easter Orphan Project, it certainly seems this year’s edition will be nothing less than explosive.
The beneficiaries of this year’s project are the Baptist Schools Complex and Orphanage (BASCO) where Citi FM is mobilizing funds to set up a GHC100,000 Skills and Training Centre for the orphans. Also benefitting are the Mama Lardi Foster Home (Bolgatanga), Jehovah Rapha Orphanage (Suhum), Handivangelism Home (Haatso), and the Chosen Drug Rehab Centre (Abofu, Accra).
Well meaning individuals and business bodies are encouraged to donate cement, roofing sheets, paint, rice, gari, maize, sugar, drinks, biscuits, detergents, washing powder, exercise books and cash sums.
